5 of the most interesting conversions we’ve done

News

We love it when we have the opportunity to deliver a finished product that not only looks great but is also practical. In the last 16 years of converting mobile units, we have seen so many interesting vehicles come through our doors. Sometimes delivering our clients dream conversion can be more tricky than others. But we love what we do and we always endeavour to find a way to deliver what our clients ask for.

We love a challenge. So starting at number five, here are what we believe are the most interesting conversions we have done so far.

5. The horsebox with a pizza oven

Each mobile unit has to be a certain weight for its authorisation to be towed/driven with catering equipment inside. So with this conversion, we had to think about how we would place a pizza oven inside with other equipment and still have it at an appropriate weight and appropriately balanced.

4. This Vintage Van

This unique looking vehicle was an interesting conversion because we had to make it into a fully working catering unit, think about the amount of space that was available and still keep its vintage look.

3. The Vintage Caravan

Converting a caravan is difficult as the walls are very thin. We normally have to completely strip the inside of the caravan and insulate it. With this van we needed to be particularly careful with this process to not dent or even pierce through the wall which would cost more money for repairs. We worked very fastidiously to fit and restore this van and were really pleased with the results.

2. Our First Wooden Shepherds Hut

Making anything out of wood is difficult, but even more so when that catering unit will be outside most of the time, exposed to the elements. When we were first asked to construct a Shepherd Hut, we first had to design how we would make it. The most challenging part of the build was the roof, this is because the roof is curved. We needed to make sure that every curve beam was the same so that the roof was not off balance. We really enjoyed the challenge and are looking forward to the next one!

1.The camper van with a raised roof

This customer wanted us to make the roof of his retro camper van lift from a hinge to enable more space to move around in their catering vehicle. This was hard to achieve as not only did we need to lift the roof but also support it’s weight. But what a result!
